Hold me Tight
“Love explained!”
This is a foundational marriage book. It was published in 2008 but I think it still holds up. In the first three chapters, the author describes love and the attachment bond. There is research that says feeling loved helps the immune system. Conversely, there is physical, mental and emotional impact when we threaten and break the attachment bond. The rest of the book is praactical conversation that apply her ideas about love.
It is so easy to see yourself in the conversations. It is helpful to see conversation modeled. I really like the author’s ARE questionnaire. She describes love as accessible, responsive and emotionally engaging. There is a quiz to see how well you love. This book has shaped and inspired my notion of romantic love.
