“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives
running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous
as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the
most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we
discover the infinite power of our light.” –Brene Brown
One of the healthiest choices you can make for yourself is to do your inner work
for the sake of yourself and those you love. It is normal to have difficult seasons
in life, it’s part of being human, and you don’t have to go it alone. I consider
therapy to be a safe place where you can be seen in a non-judgmental space. The
work of learning and growing through life’s painful moments is one of the hardest
and most beautiful things. Wellness is achieved through a series of wise,
intentional, thoughtful choices over time. There are ways to find hope.
As a therapist, I believe my clients are experts in their lives and story. You have
innate worth and dignity, regardless of your story. I will hold a positive regard for
you as we work together to re-discover your inner strength and path towards
healing.
I graduated in 2003 from Western Michigan University with a master’s degree in
social work. I have been in practice for over 20 years in various settings. My
specialties include working with individuals seeking relational wellness with
themselves and others/managing difficult relationships, post-partum mood and
anxiety disorders, coping with stress/anxiety/depression, life transitions,
substance abuse concerns/addictions, managing grief from death by overdose,
healing from a history of childhood abuse/neglect and reparenting oneself to
break unhealthy generational cycles. I am LGBTQIA+ allied and affirming, and use
a variety of treatment strategies including mindfulness, DBT skills, EFT tapping,
strength-based approaches, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, and
trauma informed.
