Kathleen works to create a space where individuals feel heard and empowered, and believes that building trust is paramount to the therapeutic process. She partners with clients in building an action plan of which they can feel proud and invested. Kathleen provides a calm and consistent presence, and is passionate about creating a safe haven where clients feel free to share as they work toward their goals. She puts an emphasis on utilizing each client’s strengths and supports, and works alongside them to identify barriers to success, as well as resources and solutions.
Kathleen has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University. Her approach utilizes the practice of motivational interviewing and goal-setting, and applies principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strength-Based Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. She has a background in mental health, behavioral health, education, and coaching.
Kathleen has experience working with students and individuals of all ages and backgrounds. She has provided support to those coping with anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, stress, relationship issues, substance use, anger, trauma, self-harm, and with those coping with a variety of disorders.
Kathleen is a mother, and puts an emphasis on wellness in her personal life by connecting with nature through walking and gardening, and by practicing yoga.
